Bidford Youth Club also known
as “The Shack” has been opening its door for over forty years and
continues to provide a safe environment for young people to socialise,
experience new learning opportunities and above all have fun. The
amazing club staff are all volunteers and funding comes from grants,
donations and fundraising. The club offers various activities, from arts
and crafts to sports the members are never lacking in activities to be
involved with.
The
club has its own access to the River Avon and in the summer months runs
a canoe section using the club’s own boats and safety equipment. We
also have a grassed area used in the summer for sports activities. All
of our outside areas are fenced and a secure area for the safety of the
members.
The
club itself is well equipped with pool table, football table, table
tennis table, computers with WiFi access, games consoles, art and craft
materials, sports equipment, giant board games, tuck shop as well as
areas where young people can just be together and chill out.
The club is often involved at community events such as the Village Day, Fetes, Duck Race, Christmas Tree Festival, etc.
The
club received the WAYC Youth Club of the Year Award for 2014 and is
involved in continuous staff training and development. A number of our
staff members have been awarded long service awards in youth work, with
some having volunteered at the youth club for over 30 years. We also
have a number of young leaders and some young people volunteer with the
youth club as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The club building
is situated behind the petrol station and is accessed through the
Crawford Hall car park.
